ES DataBase Access is a simple Microsoft Excel Add-In that will allow you to query a database from directly inside Microsoft Excel and display your query results in a cell in Excel. This replaces the no longer supported "SQL.Request" Function in the "XLODBC.XLA" Add-In, which is not supported after Excel 2002. The Database is requeried each time the spreadsheet is refreshed; this means your data is actually "live".

Having trouble using ES Database Access? Remember you need to Add the Add-in to your Add-in Manager in Excel!
For Excel 2002 and 2003 follow these steps:

• Open Excel and click the Tools Menu, then Add-Ins
• Click the Automation... button
• Find and select the ESSDBAccess.XLFunctions
• Click OK

For Excel 2007 follow these steps:

• Click the Office button
• Click Excel Options
• Click the Add-Ins tab
• Click the Automation... button
• Find and select ESSDBAccess.XLFunctions
• Click OK

You should now be able to use the function!

The Function Syntax is: =ES_Query("Connection String", "SQL Query")
